Fucking... fucking Sinosauce.
Feb. 3rd, 2026 03:40 pmI realized that a lot of my "-sauce" tags started with S, e.g. serioussauce, sciencesauce, schoolsauce, sadsauce, serioussauce, etc. So I've redone some of the other -sauce tags in this style too. Angrysauce became spitesauce and my ballet talk tag became soutenusauce.
But I had a tag for talking about my culture as a mixed Chinese/Indian American.... And I named it. I named it fucking "sinosauce." I couldn't come up with anything else lmao.

Date: 2026-02-04 05:37 pm (UTC)ok SO basically a soutenu is a turn from sous sous
sous sous is when you’re in relevé (standing on your tip toes) and have your feet turned out and together. like right up against each other. i dont feel like adding pics rn but you can look them up.
in soutenu you just kind of like. pivot from that position? its almost like you’re untwisting your legs from each other. the turn goes towards the foot you have in back (otherwise you will. get tangled and fall. it just doesnt work)
related to soutenu is the detourne. they’re basically different ways of getting into the same turn. to soutenu, you pique (step on a straight leg) into sous sous and then turn. theres kind of a moment where you’re in sous sous not turning. in detourne, you just plie (bend your knees, often used as a way to prepare/gain potential energy for jumping or turning) and then relevé and turn in a smooth motion.
