Hi lovelies!

I'm here to share with you a minor passion project about my favorite musician of all time, Ada Rook :)

I created a playlist called "The Ada Rook Experience" as a way to ~~indoctrinate~~ welcome new Rook fans. The playlist is around 4 hours long so I don't think it does a very good job as a starter that normal people want to listen to, but in an ideal world this would be the right way to hexperience her music for the first time. The goal is to be a slice of her discography that flows nicely and preserves original album transitions.

faraway and sardonica are like a prelude, before THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS sets the tone that Rook (and Black Dresses) are known for.
Then, we move into some of the happier songs, slowly ramping up the energy from BLOOM until trust before transitioning into some of the darker/more intense high-energy songs.
im cis starts the really heavy-hitting part of the playlist, which continues down until COWARD 2 COWARD.
There's a brief respite, since COWARD 2 COWARD and UNDERNEATH IT ALL function this way in the original album, then we cut back to hextreme shit with XANAFALGUE (also like that in the original album).
DAMAGE SUPPRESSOR brings the mood back up to go into cocoon (high energy/positive), and the shared melody leads us into moth, priming us for the quieter songs.
This nicely leads us back to night in a secret world and 5HAD0W H34R7Z, closing off UGLY DEATH NO REDEMPTION ANGEL CURSE I LOVE YOU.
The themes in 5H4D0W H34R7Z wrap around to CURSE (for Devi), leading us to the more emotional and intimate parts of the playlist.
Then, we have a dream sequence: Dream of the Void as She Cums Inside Me and Unmakes Reality and She Dies and I Die and Everything is the Color of Burnt Lawns and Absinthe, DREAMING, and dream of the rotting world in the wretched fantasy of light.
SARDONICA (live) bookends sardonica from the start of the playlist, and the silence following its end allows us to begin anew, moving into the finale with some incredibly heavy and raw emotion in holding your sleeping body i prayed to god for the first time in my life that i would be able to keep you alive (P1500021.MP4 November 12 2020).
SLITHER and ZERO FANTASY are the final Black Dresses songs to me.
